FAMILY
My husband Michael and I have two children, Deirdre (29) has left Bloomingdale's to start her own brand management company in New York City specializing in trendy men's wear and Margaret(26) who became Maggie at KU, is working for NBC in Chicago as a network planner. We're all getting together over the long Labor Day weekend at a friend's home on Fire Island--can't wait!
EDUCATION/WORK
Children's Book Publishing at Scholastic
Scholastic has not managed to get rid of me yet--am celebrating my official 25 years there this September. The book club division was recently restructured. As a result I now work manly on editorial matters, instead of marketing. I still run our Spanish book club (the smallest club of all), which takes me to the Guadalajara Book Fair each November. I'm also putting together some of our special offers, such as Science/Math--in English.
LIFE
I 'm so pleased to think about the many classmates who will attend the reunion, but sad to think of those who can't attend (Rod) or are "lost". Also--to all you reunion planners, thank you so much for being willing to take on the task of getting us together every five years.
I have just returned from Portland, OR, where my mom has been living for the last five years. She came down with pneumonia almost two weeks ago and died August 5. She was 88 and had not been well for quite a while, but it's still not easy, as most of you know. We are planning a memorial service for her in Lawrence on September 30 at 1 p.m. at the Plymouth Congregational Church.
