FAMILY
As you know from previous reunion memory books, Charles (Charley) Beer and I married back in the early '70's, moved to Australia (on a business venture with Roy O'Connor and his wife, Susan), lived there for 2 years, returned to Lawrence and later, unfortunately, divorced.  We're still close, good friends and always will be--just can't be married to each other!

I then moved to Houston where I worked as an Executive Assistant for the President of Husky Oil International, remarried, had my beautiful daughter Stephanie and once again divorced and moved back to Lawrence.
Although I have been unfortunate in the marriage category, I have been very blessed with my wonderful daughter who graduated with honors last may from Eugene Lang College at the New School University in New York.  She will begin graduate studies at the new School for Social Research in Political Science this fall, with an emphasis on global capitalism and it's affect on underdeveloped countries.  She hopes to be admitted to City University of New York (CUNY) and combine her graduate work in the spring.  (I'm absolutely certain there was a mix up at the hospital when she was born and they gave me the wrong baby--as I have no idea how I could have given birth to such an intelligent and amazing young woman!!)

I also have two beautiful, twin godchildren in Houston who were born 3 months premature in 2002 (weighing in at only 2 lbs!), but who just celebrated their 3rd birthday in July and are happy, healthy, fully developed children.

EDUCATION/WORK
I continue to work as a Program Assistant for the director of the Higuchi Biosciences Center at the University of Kansas where I began in 1997 after having worked at Oread Laboratories from 1985-1997.

LIFE
I was initiated into the Catholic Church 2 years ago and became a member of St. John's parish after having attended St. John's for 3 years prior to my initiation into the Catholic faith.  I've made many wonderful friends at St. John's and am very grateful to have found such a spiritual home and family.

40 years?  Is it truly possible?  Does it seem like yesterday to any of the rest of you or am I the only one who sometimes still feels like a teenager in an admittedly maturing (kind and gentle word for "aging") body?  It's hard to believe 40 years have passed since we celebrated our graduation together from LHS, shedding tears as we sang or listened to "You'll Never Walk Alone" at the Field House.  Dancing through the wee hours of the night to the Fabulous Flippers at the Red Dog Inn and waking the next morning to dreams of bright futures as we entered a new and exciting phase of our lives.  Some of those dreams came true for many of us--some did not--but no matter how each of our lives unfolded over the last 40 years, I hope you agree that the experiences we shared during our years together at LHS created a bond between us all that will last a lifetime.

My life did not turn out the way I had planned or dreamed it would those 40 years ago, but in many ways it turned out far better!  Life has been very , very good to me and i am most grateful for all of the many blessings I've been given.

I'm looking forward to seeing all of you and have a chance to re-live old memories and hear all about what's been happening in your lives since we last met.  In the meantime, I want to thank each of you who played such an important role in my life and for the privilege and joy of having you as my friend!
