FAMILY Last updated 8/2008
I am an orphan now, because both my parents have joined our Lord, but they did prepare me for my life without them. Bless their souls.
I went through the traditional Indian Arranged marriage route. I went to India and got married to a lady who was picked by my parents. After a bit of waiting due to immigration, etc. my bride joined me in the states. My wife and I have been married now for over 29 years. She is the only lady that I have known and I love her dearly. She has become my eyes, hands and anything else.
She is a Marine biologist by profession but after coming here to this country trained to be in a health care profession and is currently employed in the Health Insurance Industry.
We contributed to the population explosion by bringing into this world two wonderful children. A boy and a girl. Both are now out of college and gainfully employed. Both became Electrical Engineers. My son is employed by Motorola in Illinois and my daughter is employed by 3M company in Minnesota. Since both are yet to be married, we split our time between them during the weekends.
EDUCATION/WORK
I did my Engineering Studies first at KU then at Arizona State University and became an Electrical Engineer. After graduation, I joined the Arizona D.O.T. and was christened as a Traffic Signal Engineer. Along the way I took the licensing exam and was granted the Professional Engineer License. This license is a requirement for any engineer who is in the public sector. This allows the public to sue that individual for his design or any decision that he makes in terms of public safety. An opportunity presented itself to be the State Electrical Engineer at the DOT in Wisconsin and I capitalized on that opportunity and I have been here for the past 25 years! At WISDOT, I do everything from signal engineering to homeland security. Even though the winters are very cold here, I really enjoy being here in Wisconsin. Most of the residents in Madison do know me very well.
LIFE
My nickname is COBRA. When I first showed up at WISDOT, I had a heated discussion with a vendor in a meeting and I really got on his case. During the course of the meeting, he made a statement saying that I was like a Cobra with fangs. This nickname has stayed with me ever since.
